Your plan for a great summer weekend

Summer often feels like the most fleeting of seasons. By the time you’ve settled in, summer is getting ready to fall into autumn. The good news is, it’s not too late! You’ve still got lots of time to enjoy the summer. Here are some outdoor and indoor activities to help you make the most of this precious time of year.

Visit friends and family

The light at the end of the pandemic tunnel gets brighter everyday. Depending on where you are in Canada, many restrictions have been lifted. If you’re able to, make plans to hang out with friends and family. You may even be able to hug! Remember hugs?! We’ve gathered some ideas for what you and your friends can do together.

Outdoors:

Awe walk

If it’s been a while since you’ve socialized, your conversation skills could be a bit rusty. If you want to ease back into it, going for a walk in nature can be a great first step. An awe walk is a great way to reduce stress and boost your mental health. An awe walk simply means you shift your focus outward, toward all the beauty you are taking in. This could mean walking somewhere new, or simply seeing it with fresh eyes. Conversation is not required.

Go swimming

Summer doesn’t really feel like summer until you’ve gone for a swim. If you’re lucky enough to live near any of Canada’s great beaches, this weekend could be a great time to take the plunge. If not, check your local outdoors pools for their schedules.

Picnic

All you need for a great picnic is a pleasant spot in a local park, some great food and some good company.

Indoors:

Make a Homemade Pizza

If your perfect weekend doesn’t include the great outdoors, you can have a great time without leaving the comfort of home. Rather than ordering in, make a homemade pizza and eat it while you watch your favourite movie.

Indoor picnic

Into every summer a little (or a lot of) rain must fall. If you’d planned on a picnic in the park and the weather won’t cooperate, you can have an indoor picnic in your living room. The perfect picnic blanket and picnic basket will help create the perfect picnic atmosphere.

Game night

Gather with whatever friends and family you can, or connect with them over Zoom, and have a fun game night! You can go for video games, break out a favourite board game or try a great new game!

We hope these ideas help you plan for a great summer weekend!
