Where to see spring in bloom in Canada

Spring is just around the corner. Are you ready for it? If you're after an epic spring experience,  here are the best places to go in your Canadian city to see spring in bloom.

 

Calgary

 

In Calgary, be sure to pay a visit to the Botanical Gardens of Silver Springs this season. Boasting 14 gorgeous gardens and acres of land within a Birthplace Forest, it's a breathtaking experience you won't soon forget. 

 

Edmonton and St. Albert

 

In Edmonton, you have to visit Muttart Conservatory in the spring. If you head out past the decorative footbridge and gazebo, you'll find a hill of tulips in bloom in May. In St. Albert, visit St. Albert Botanic Park. It's a stunning garden with a wide range of plants. Admission is free and the gardens are open daily from sunrise to sunset.  

 

Hamilton, Oakville and Burlington

 

In the Hamilton and Burlington area, it doesn't get any better than a trip to the Royal Botanical Gardens. You'll discover lush gardens, stunning walking trails and nature sanctuaries here that will blow your mind. In Oakville, be sure to pay a visit to Gairloch Gardens. It's an amazing park with plenty of blooming flower beds, pretty ponds and wildlife.

 

Kitchener and Waterloo 

 

In Kitchener, be sure to pay a visit to Victoria Park in downtown. It features beautiful gardens with plenty of spring blooms to admire. In Waterloo, head to Waterloo Park's Victoria Gardens, a stunning Victorian-style garden. It's a popular spot for flower-filled wedding photos for a reason!

 

Langley, New Westminster and Vancouver 

 

In British Columbia, flowers aren't hard to find, but there are definitely hot spots you must visit. When in Langley, Sendall Gardens is a favourite. It spans over 3 acres and packs in a ton of stunning trees, flowers, shrubs, boardwalks and is a beautiful home for a lot of wildlife. In New Westminster, you must pay a visit to the stunning Friendship Gardens & Tipperary Park. You'll discover beautiful ponds with mini waterfalls, enchanting stepping stones, inviting paths and gorgeous trees and plants. In Vancouver, you're really spoiled for choice. Our favourite spots include VanDusen Botanical Garden, Nitobe Memorial Garden, and the lush gardens found within Stanley Park.

 

Winnipeg

 

When in Winnipeg, you must visit the English Garden in Assiniboine Park. It features enticing winding paths and a stunning English-style garden. Also pay a visit to the Leo Mol Sculpture Garden which melds nature with art thanks to the addition of the artistic works of master sculptor, Dr. Leo Mol. 

 

Montreal

 

When in Montreal, you MUST visit the Montreal Botanical Garden for its incredible whimsical garden displays. You won't be bored, no matter when you visit. The National historic site encompasses a whopping 75 hectares (190 acres) of thematic gardens and greenhouses.

 

North York and Toronto

 

In North York, stop by Edwards Gardens. It's right near the Toronto Botanical Garden which is also absolutely worth a trip. It features perennials, roses, wildflowers, rhododendrons and rock formations. In Toronto, there's no better place to visit than High Park when the cherry trees are in bloom. Pack a picnic, bring a blanket and prepare to spend the day in pink and white cherry blossom heaven.
