Tree lighting events in your city

What are your plans for the holidays? We hope they include attending your city's tree lighting ceremony! BentallGreenOak Residential Services blog team wants to help you enjoy this special time of year. Here are the best holiday tree lighting ceremonies in your city.

Vancouver

In Vancouver there are a bunch of fabulous illuminated holiday attractions to enjoy, but if an official tree lighting is what you're after, check out the Vancouver Christmas Tree Lighting. Expect four fabulous trees -- one is 50 feet tall! There will also be live music and food trucks onsite.

Langley

If you're in the Langley area, don't miss the Langley City Christmas tree lighting ceremony on December 1st in McBurney Plaza. The tree lighting portion of the event will be followed by caroling and hot chocolate.

New Westminster

If you're in New Westminster, mark your calendar for the City of New Westminster's tree lighting event at Hyack Square on December 2nd. There will be caroling, free hot chocolate and cookies!

St. Albert

If you'll be in St. Albert in late November, don't miss the annual Snowflake Festival in the Perron District of downtown! There will be a gorgeous tree lighting, a live ice sculpture display, horse-drawn wagon rides, a petting zoo, and more. Santa and his elves will be nearby in Santa's Village to greet the kids who attend. There will also be delicious hot cocoa or coffee to keep you warm as you enjoy the event.

Edmonton

Edmonton really knows how to celebrate the holidays! Don't miss the Festival of Trees at the Shaw Conference Centre. This luminous event showcases beautifully decorated Christmas trees. Expect more than 200 decorated trees!

Calgary

If you'll be in Calgary in late November, don't miss out on these incredible light displays! The Lions Festival of Lights will present an incredible illuminated spectacle in Confederation Park, and the Core downtown will boast 150 lit and decorated trees, including a stunning 14-metre-tall tree, as part of the Find Christmas Downtown event.

Hamilton

If you're looking for a tree lighting ceremony in

Hamilton, visit Gore Park for it's annual tree lighting ceremony in December! The event also features Santa selfies, live music and a miniature train ride around the park. If you're into trains, be sure to check out the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train too for a luminous train ride you'll never forget.

Burlington

Without a doubt, the best Burlington holiday tree lighting event is the Tree of Hope Lighting ceremony at City Hall. Don't miss it! Afterwards, head over to Spencer Smith Park to take in the beauty of The Festival of Lights.

Kitchener

Right before Christmas in Kitchener, a massive tree will be strung with lights in the ChrisKindl Market in Kitchener's City Hall! The market is fabulous, too. Visit it for an authentic German Christmas market experience, lots of yummy snacks and beautiful artisan booths.

Waterloo

When in Waterloo for the holidays, you must check out Wonders of Winter. All of gorgeous Waterloo Park is illuminated with fun light displays and majestic trees to kick off the holiday season.

Oakville

When in Oakville for the holidays, one should not miss out on the annual Downtown Oakville Tree Lighting Ceremony! Held in Downtown Oakville's Town Square annually, this event features live entertainment, caroling, a popup market, treats and the lighting of Oakville's fabulous official Christmas tree.

Toronto

The Cavalcade of Lights is Toronto's annual tree lighting event. Make your calendar for November 24th and head to Nathan Phillips Square. Toronto's official Christmas Tree will be lit, there will be live musical performances, ice skating and an explosive winter fireworks show to enjoy. The event is free to attend.

Markham

Don't miss the Markham Festival of Lights on November 23rd in downtown Markham. This fabulous event features carolers, live music, fire artists, jugglers, stilt walkers, fireworks and the lighting of Markham's official Christmas tree.

Montreal

The Place Ville Marie Tree Lighting has been a Montréal tradition since 1962. The tree is actually made of lights! It stands about 20 metres high and there are about 13,00 lights in total! It will be located at the southern end of the mall at McGill College Avenue. Have a look at the Ville Marie Facebook page for more details.
