The tools you need in your kitchen

Your new apartment is perfect. You’ve unpacked and you’re ready to start transforming your apartment into a home. One great way to make a home feel like your home is to prepare delicious meals in your own kitchen. Space may be sort of limited, but not every tool and kitchen gadget is essential. Stock up on these basics to cover your bases.

Mixing Bowls and Measuring Utensils

When a recipe calls for a cup, a coffee mug won’t do. The spoon you use to stir your tea may not measure out to an actual teaspoon. Improper measurements are a great way to make a good recipe go bad. While we’re on the subject, a cereal bowl won’t work for mixing. This set of measuring utensils and mixing bowls is all you’ll need to get started.

Cutting Board

You just moved into your new apartment, so damaging the counters is not a great idea. A simple cutting board will protect the counters and your security deposit. Cutting boards also make cleaning up easier.

Sharp Knives

The right tool makes every job easier. Carving a chicken with a steak knife is a recipe for frustration. A decent set of knives is a worthwhile investment. This set includes everything you’ll need, including a handy vegetable peeler as well as a knife sharpener to keep your edge.

Cookware and Bakeware

Pots and pans are an absolute must. You don’t need to spend a fortune, a simple set of stainless steel pots and pans and some basic bakeware should serve you well for years to come.

Cooking Utensils

There seems to be an endless list of utensils and gadgets that you can clutter up a kitchen with. All you really need are a spatula, a turner (yes they are different), a slotted spoon, ladle or basting spoon and tongs. This set even comes with a ceramic crock to save you some drawer space.

We hope this list of kitchen basics helps you get cooking!
