Our Favourite Farms to Visit in the GTA

With Fall just around the corner, we can't wait to visit local farms. To help you join in the fun, BentallGreenOak Residential Services has a list of the best farms to visit in the GTA this season.

 

Riverdale Farm

You can visit a farm in the heart of Toronto! Riverdale Farm is located in Cabbagetown,  which can be reached easily from Castle Frank subway station. This 7.5-acre property is home for all kinds of animals including pigs, cows, chickens, sheep and goats as well as flower, vegetable and herb gardens. It's a great place to take your kids to experience farm life without having to leave the city. It's open 7 days a week from 9am to 5pm.

 

Springridge Farm 

Just ten minutes from Milton, you'll find Spring Ridge Farm. This is a great place to visit to enjoy seasonal festivals or a fun day trip. The farm is really popular with families because of their Fun Farm Yard which is an exciting educational area with all kinds of things for kids to enjoy, including farm animals, a giant sandbox, corn trails, antique tractors and wagon rides. There is also a bakery and gift shop that sell all kinds of gourmet products. Springridge Farm is open every day from 9am to 5pm.

 

Downey's Farm 

Whether you live close to Caledon or not, you should plan a visit to Downey's Farm. Not only do they have fresh, locally-grown fruits and vegetables, but they also have a market and bakery that sells everything from jams to cheese. They also have a corn maze and a Family Fun Area where you can enjoy time with your kids, family and friends. Consider visiting Downey's Farm if you're planning a birthday or even a company party. There's so much to see and do. They also have an annual event called Pumpkinfest which runs from September 21st to September 31st.

 

Applewood Farm Winery

If you love apple picking, then you should definitely visit Applewood Farm Winery. This 

family-run farm is located near Stouffville and it's a great place to spend an afternoon. You can enjoy the country and sample a variety of ciders and wines, or have fun with the kids in a playground. Apple picking season starts on September 7th, so you better start planning your trip soon!

 

Chudleigh's Farm

At Chudleigh's Farm, there's always something fun going on. Whether it's live music or sunrise apple picking, it's a great place to visit with friends and family.You can visit the orchard, take the kids to the play area or pick up some of their delicious pies to take home. They also recently added a market, so be sure to check that out, too. Apple picking season has already started, so don't miss out.
