Make your own holiday greeting cards

The holiday season is almost upon us. It's a time to gather together and celebrate with friends and family, and exchange some gifts. Everyone loves to receive homemade cards. Making your own DIY cards with the kids is also a great way to spend some quality craft time with them! The BentallGreenOak Residential Services team wants to help you make your own holiday greeting cards this year. Give these easy DIY projects a try at home.

Reindeer Christmas Card

This Reindeer Christmas Card is super simple to make. If your kids have never made their own cards, this is a great place to begin. You can modify the process to make it even easier, or make it more challenging for older kids. You'll need some construction paper (light brown, dark brown, red and white) googly eyes, glue, and scissors. The easy-to-follow video tutorial will walk you through exactly what to do.

Paint Swatch Card

Gather up those old paint swatches, or grab some new ones at the paint store. This Paint Swatch Card is a fun, vibrant and easy way to say "Happy Holidays". In addition to the paint chip swatches you'll need card stock, foam glitter stars, sparkly rhinestones and double-sided tape. The tutorial will walk you through how to turn those old swatches into a colourful Christmas tree card.

Magic Santa Card

This is not your typical Christmas card! This Magic Trick Santa Card serves double-duty as a card and cool magic trick that your kids will love to make and share. You'll need some white card stock, tape, scissors, black and coloured markers and Transparency Paper*. You can use any clear plastic, but transparency paper pulls off the trick a bit better. You can download the template for the card here.

Four Patch Card

This beginners tutorial is the first of a progressive series of tutorials, each one building and adding to what was learned in the last. This tutorial will teach you how to make simple cards for any occasion and decorate them with four patches of fancy paper and finish with a simple but lovely embellishment. To get started you'll need: white card stock, 4 colours of decorative paper, glue, scissors, pencil and a ruler.
