For more than a year, we have been facing unprecedented challenges. The light at the end of the tunnel gets brighter everyday. It may be time to get outside and enjoy some time off – within the parameters of local reopening rules and current COVID information. Here are some long weekend ideas we love.
Picnic in a park
Even if things are not fully reopened where you live, getting outside for an early summer picnic is a pretty perfect way to spend some time this long weekend. There may be rules for how many people can gather outdoors, but there are no rules for how to have a great picnic. All you need is some greenspace or parkland to lay down a blanket, some food that you love, and, hopefully, a person (or a few people) you love to share time with. If you want to cook, there are lots of great picnic recipes to choose from. If you prefer more of an instant picnic, some fried chicken, potato salad and lemonade will do the trick! There are grocery stores across Canada that offer great prepared meals.
Hike
If you’ve had a case of cabin fever from self-isolation over the past year or so, it’s time for that fever to break! Lace up your hiking shoes and hit the trail. If you don’t know where the hotspot hiking trails and off-the-beaten-path paths are – there are some great hiking apps that can help.
Swim

Get together
How you spend your time this long weekend may not be as important as who you spend it with. We’ve all spent too long in our own bubbles. It’s time to burst some bubbles when and where it’s safe to do so. Please follow all public health guidance, and maybe brush-up on your conversation-starters if it’s been a while since you’ve socialized!
