Fun & Free First Dates in Calgary!

First dates are exciting and nerve wracking at the same time!

Where should you go? What should you do? Dates can get expensive and for your first time meeting someone, you might want to keep a budget in mind. In Calgary, there are many options for fun activities that don't actually cost anything, and also help you get to know the person you're with!

The "Cultured" Date

If you want to connect with your date over the Arts, visit the Glenbow Museum on the first Thursday of the month! On this day, the incredible gallery offers free admission. Plan your first date, so that you can wander around viewing art and history exhibits at your leisure and admire the collection, which consists of over 30,000 piece. What better way to inspire intriguing conversation! If you live at our Portfolio property, the gallery is only a few minutes away.

The "Fun" Date

Calgary is a city that boasts many awesome festivals and events throughout the year. Some of these are completely free, or at least free to enter. If you both love animals, spend the afternoon at DogFest SpringFest or Pet-A-Palozza. If you're willing to get messy while trying some delicious food, take your date to the Calgary RibFest in July! Or, if you're looking for something a bit outside the box, meet local romance novelists at Sultry & Sweet Summer Reads YYC or watch a Salsa competition at the Sun and Salsa Festival. Let's not forget about the Stampede Parade and the fireworks at the GlobalFest!

The "Casual" Date

On a nice day, enjoy the fresh air by strolling through Beaulieu Gardens, walking around Lindsay Park or grab a coffee and sit on a bench to people-watch, while getting to know each other at Central Memorial Park, which happens to be close to both of our Calgary properties. If it is winter, act like kids together by going tobogganing in Confederation Park!

The "Go With The Flow" Date

What better way to get to know someone then to go for a walk around the city! You never know what you may see, who you may encounter or what fun may await you. Stephen Avenue is a great place to start, especially on a cold or a rainy day. If the weather is nice, go on a self-guided heritage walking tour and delve into the history of the city, or wander around some of the city's unique neighbourhoods, like the Beltline, the Design District or Chinatown.
