Easy Fall Decor DIY Projects We Love

Fall and winter are the perfect month to enjoy the indoors and get creative with DIY projects. BentallGreenOak Residential Services has four fun DIY projects to try in your apartment this fall.

Rustin Mason Jars

Autumn is officially here, which means it's time to add some fall decor touches to your apartment. This Rustic Mason Jar craft project is super fun and easy and it looks great in any room. You'll need four mason jars, white and brown acrylic paint, twine, a foam paint brush, vinyl letters, sandpaper and a wheat stalk. The first step is to paint the front of the mason jars brown. Once the paint is completely dry, take your vinyl letters and place them on top of the paint. Now paint the entire jar in white and let it dry. Peel off the letters and use the sandpaper to even out the paint and make it look a little more rustic. Take a piece of twine and tie it around the top of the jar. Finally, place the wheat inside. The mason jar will look great on your front door console, in the living room or in your bedroom!

Fall Coffee Table Decor

One of the best ways to bring fall into your home is to have a great Coffee Table Centerpiece. It's often the centre of a room, so it's a great place to show off your new DIY project. The size of your table will dictate what you can do, but a great idea would be to start with a wood tray. You can think of it as your canvas. Inside the tray you can put whatever you want. A few mini pumpkins, a cinnamon scented candle and a small vase with flowers would be the perfect mix. Choose colours that match with your decor, and items that reflect your personality.

Fresh Apple Candles

Nothing says fall like the smell of fresh apples! Instead of buying scented ones at a store, you can make your own Fresh Apple Candles. All you really need for this project is a few tea light candles and some apples. Start by tracing the candle on top of an apple to make a circle. Keep in mind that the stem doesn't necessarily have to be in the middle. Use a sharp knife to cut out and remove the top of the apple. Don't worry if it doesn't look perfect. You can use a spoon to scoop out the apple, making the hole big enough for a tea light. Before you put it inside, make sure to brush some lemon juice inside and around the edges. This will help the apple from going brown. Slide in the candle and voila! This project makes for a great table centerpiece, gift and party decoration.

Pinecone Garland

Switch things up a bit and decorate your wall with a beautiful Pinecone Garland! It's a great way to add a touch of nature and earthiness into your home. For this project you'll need twine or rope, pinecones, wooden beads and a hot glue gun. Grab the rope and thread the wooden beads. Space them out as much as you want and tie a knot on each side of each bead to hold them in place. Once you've added all of them, put a little bit of hot glue on the pinecones and stick them onto the twine. Let the glue dry, then put up your garland! And remember, you can customize this project to your needs by using different beads or paint colours on the pinecones!
