Big brands that are reducing their footprint

We are all responsible for the vitality of our planet and our actions matter. From everyday changes in the life of the average individual, to shifts in the operations of a large company, it can all add up to a brighter future. These big brands are fighting climate change by reducing their footprint. We all vote with our dollars, so show them some support if you can!

Adidas

Adidas is currently focused on ending plastic waste in its production process. The company has had a green mission for years. It launched "Green Company" in 2008 and set out to minimize natural resource consumption, reduce waste and achieve carbon neutrality.

Through its Green Company program and Science-Based Target initiatives (SBTi), the company reduced 55% of its carbon emissions, 48% of its water consumption, 50% waste diversion, and 80% of its paper consumption (by 2020).

The Body Shop

The Body Shop works hard to protect the environment. They're a B Corp™ which means they're one of 3,000 businesses worldwide that have the highest social and environmental standards for people and the planet. One of their initiatives that really stands out is that they're working towards a goal of zero waste packaging with a focus on using fewer plastic materials. They're using plant-based and recycled plastic (rather than oil-based plastics), and are helping people around the world reuse, repurpose and recycle. In 2019, they reintroduced their refill program and removed 21 tonnes of plastic from their Christmas gifts. They sell cruelty-free vegan and vegetarian products and shun animal testing.

McCormick

McCormick & Company Inc. is a big company with a green mission. From its namesake McCormick spices and condiments to Billy Bee and EarthRight, they're keeping sustainability in mind. Grown for Good is McCormick’s framework for sustainably sourcing herbs and spices. It encompasses an ethical and sustainable supply chain from field to facility. The company tops many sustainable business lists as it adopts SBTi.

H&M

H&M introduced Green Machine, a breakthrough in fabric recycling technology. It recycles cotton and polyester blends. The company has set targets of using 30% recycled materials in its products by 2025 and 100% by 2030.

It has also set a science-based target to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 2030.

Patagonia

Patagonia uses sustainable materials in its outerwear and gives customers the option to repair their clothing to avoid buying new clothes unnecessarily. Patagonia’s products are durable, so the company encourages customers to recycle their items and purchase items second hand.

We hope you're feeling inspired by these eco-conscious brands!
