Apple season is fast approaching and we couldn't be more excited! BentallGreenOak Residential Services has a few sweet and savoury apple recipes that you must try this fall!

Apple Harvest Bake

For a wonderfully sweet and delicious pie, you have to try this Apple Harvest Bake. You're going to need the following: cinnamon butter, brown sugar, all purpose flour, baking powder, salt, ground cinnamon, eggs, vanilla, apples and walnuts. To make this lovely dessert, you will need approximately 50 minutes which breaks down to 20 minutes of prep and 30 minutes of bake time. Prepare the cinnamon butter by mixing butter, powdered sugar, cinnamon, milk and vanilla in a bowl. Set it aside and let it chill. Before you start mixing the rest of the ingredients, grease a 9-inch pie plate and set it aside. Grab a medium-sized bowl and mix flour, brown sugar, baking powder, salt and cinnamon together. Add in vanilla and eggs and finally apples and nuts. Once everything is mixed well, pour the mixture into the pie plate. Let it bake for 30 minutes -- or until the top is golden and firm. You can serve it warm with cinnamon butter on top. Yum!

Apple Pumpkin Muffins

These Apple Pumpkin Muffins are a great snack any time of the day, or an excellent dessert. This recipe is pretty simple and takes about 45 minutes to make. You can start by mixing the following ingredients in a bowl: all-purpose flour, sugar, cinnamon, ginger, baking soda and salt. In a separate bowl, mix in eggs, canned pumpkin and vegetable oil. Mix everything well and combine with the dry ingredients. Finally, add peeled and chopped apples. While the oven heats up to 350F, you can grease the muffin cups and pour in the mixture. Bake them for 35 minutes and make sure to cool them before serving.

Cranberry Apple Sweet Potatoes

Who said that apples are only for desserts? This yummy Cranberry Apple Sweet Potato recipe is the perfect example of why apples are great for sweet and savoury dishes. Start by spreading the pie filling in an 8x8x2-inch baking dish and add the sweet potatoes on top. Grab a small bowl and mix together cranberry sauce, apricot preserves, and orange marmalade. Set the oven to 350F and bake for 30 minutes. Once it's done, sprinkle it with pecans. You can eat this dish on it's own (it's great for vegetarians) or serve it with beef or pork.

Apple, Sage and Sausage Stuffing

If you're one of those people who dreams of eating stuffing more than once a year, this Apple, Sage and Sausage Stuffing recipe will be your new favourite. Start by melting unsalted butter in a pan and cooking celery and onions in it for 15 minutes. Once they are soft, add 4 pork sausages and cook until browned. Next, you'll need to add in 4 chopped and peeled McIntosh apples and cook until soft. Add in bread crumbs and fresh sage and chicken stock. You can season it with salt and pepper if you like. While the oven heats up to 375F, stuff some of the mixture into a turkey cavity and the rest in a baking dish. Let it cook for 30 minutes, or until golden! Share this dish to your family and friends -- they'll love it!
