An epic Easter feast!

Spring has arrived and Easter is just around the corner! BentallGreenOak Residential Services has some tips on how to make this special occasion an unforgettable one with delicious recipes and picture-perfect Easter table decor.

Old-Fashioned Ham

Nothing says a feast quite like an Old-Fashioned Ham with Brown Sugar and Mustard Glaze. To prepare this savoury meal, you'll need one 10-pound smoked ham with rind, 1 cup unsweetened apple juice or apple cider, 1/4 cup honey and 1/2 cup whole grain Dijon mustard. Start by preheating the oven to 325F. Put the ham in a roasting pan and pour the apple juice on top. Next, you'll want to cover the ham with parchment paper and foil completely and bake it for about 3 hours and 45 minutes. An instant-read thermometer is a handy way to check if the ham is ready. Remove the ham from the oven and increase the temperature to 375F. Uncover the ham and drain all the liquids from the pan and cut off the rind. You're going to cut 1-inch-wide slices of fat and spread the mustard and brown sugar, pressing firmly. Drizzle the honey on top and bake until the ham is glazed, around 30 minutes. Serve warm with a white wine, some side dishes and a spring salad. Enjoy!

Spring Beef Bourguignon

Impress your family and friends with this mouth-watering Slow Cooked Spring Beef Bourguignon. Not only is it delicious, but it's also easy to make. To start, heat a large skillet and toss in the beef and oil, searing it for 3 minutes per side. In between the batches, add some red wine to the pan and finally add everything to a slow-cooker. Next, you're going to toss in 1 large diced onion, 2 cups of sliced mushrooms, 2 chopped large carrots, garlic, thyme, rosemary and some more red wine. Cook everything for roughly 6 to 7 hours, until the beef is tender. When you're ready to eat, serve it with a veggie like asparagus and some fresh herbs like basil. Delish!

Terrarium Decor

Make Easter extra special this year by doing something different. Sure, you're making a delicious meal, but kick it up a notch with a gorgeous table setting. Terrariums are a beautiful and creative way to display different plants (succulents and air plants) in glass bowls or jars. You can make your own or purchase them ready-made. Add some green moss to the table to create an interesting runner that will really make it feel spring! You can arrange some eggs along the runner for some extra Easter decor. And remember, you don't have to go overboard. Less is more!

White and Pastels

Nothing says spring like pastel colours. A soft blue or yellow tablecloth is the perfect place to start for your DIY Easter table setting. If you can find one with a flower pattern, even better. Add some fresh flowers to the table, such as tulips or daisies, and pour mini eggs in small jars as part of the decoration. You can add anything else you want, but stay consistent with the white and pastel colour scheme.
