Distillery Winter Village
If you live in the GTA, you've probably heard of or attended the Toronto Christmas Market. It was a pretty epic annual outdoor and indoor holiday market with many vendors selling their wares out of tiny cabin shacks in the Distillery District of Toronto. It attracted tons of visitors who squeezed into the packed cobblestone streets in twinklelight to line up for seasonal eats like smoked turkey drumsticks, hot chocolate, poutine and more while they snapped up delightful gifts from artisans. This market was massively popular for good reason. However it didn't operate in 2021 and was replaced by The Distillery Winter Village. Though not the same technically, this new event was very similar and is back again for 2022! It is open 7 days a week. With more than 75 local merchants, restaurants and cafés, plus seasonal vendors and food cabins, it's topping our list of best holiday markets in Canada.
Christkindl Market
Germany is famous for its incredible outdoor Christmas markets. They are truly beautiful and feature handmade ornaments, great food and traditional song and dance. If you've ever wanted to experience German Christmas in Canada, now's your chance at Kitchener’s Christkindl Market. This year's market will run from December 1-4, 2022 and will feature over 100 vendors! Shop, skate, eat, drink, listen to live bands, and visit the live Nativity scene.
Niagara Falls Christmas Market
If you're in the Hamilton area, the Niagara Falls Christmas Market is worth a day trip. It will be bigger and better this year! There will be stunning light displays, character visits, and special surprises. Check it out from November 12 through December 18 on Fridays (5 pm to 10 pm), Saturdays (1 pm to 10 pm), and Sundays (12 pm to 4 pm). It's a great place to go holiday shopping, listen to live music and more.
Vancouver Christmas Market
The Vancouver Christmas Market is pretty spectacular and well worth a visit for those in the Vancouver area. You can spend a lovely day or night there, digging into gourmet food, sipping on authentic German drinks, and indulging in festive sweets. From great shopping to epic carousel rides and a walk-in Christmas tree, you must check it out this holiday season. It runs from November 12 to December 24 at Jack Poole Plaza and its hours are subject to change. From November 12 – 25 it's open from 4 pm to 9:30 pm. From November 26 – December 23 it's open from 11:30 am to 9:30 pm. And on December 24 it's open from 11:30 am to 6:00 pm.
