Summer is prime season for music festivals in Canada. 2017 will be particularly epic for festivals thanks to Canada's 150th Birthday. To help you rock out, the team at Bentall Kennedy Residential Services has compiled this list of the best summer music festivals in your city.

Vancouver: TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival

If you love jazz, Canadian TD Jazz Festivals are top notch music events. Vancouver International Jazz Festival is no exception. The festival's lineup includes Jane Bunnett, Tommy Emmanuel, and Ziggy Marley among other big name acts.

Burnaby: Burnaby Blues Fest

On August 12th Burnaby Blues Fest returns to Deer Lake Park. Acts like Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue headline this popular event, with tickets starting at $55.

Langley: World Music in the Plaza

Langley comes alive this summer with the "Plaza" event series. On June 24th, the World Music in the Plaza installment takes the stage. Live from McBurney Plaza, bands as diverse as Acher Brasil, KingFish Limbo, and Hurricanes Korean Youth Drum Association bring audiences sounds from around the world.

Victoria: Victoria Ska Fest

Without even mentioning the rest of the lineup for this year's Victoria Ska Fest, Mos Def, legendary NYC rapper-actor-producer will be headlining. Go. Immediately.

St. Albert: Seven Music Fest

You won't want to miss Seven Music Fest. This lesser known hard hitting St. Albert music fest serves up solid musical fare from The Strumbellas, The Rural Alberta Advantage, and The Elwins. Make it on July 8th, 2017.

Calgary: Sled Island

A 5-day music and arts festival, Sled Island programs more than just music. The festival offers over 250 bands, comedians, filmmakers, and artists to audiences of up to 30,000.

Edmonton: Canada 150 in 150 Celebration

No list of Canadian summer music fests would be complete without a nod to our nation's 150th Birthday. Edmonton is doing it in style at the Canada 150 in 150 Celebration with iconic Sarah McLaughlin headlining at Edmonton's Rogers Center.

New Westminster: Uptown Live

Uptown Live celebrates BC's thriving indie music scene. Highlights of this year's lineup include Daniel Wesley, Youngblood, Big Easy Funk Ensemble, and The New Groovement.

Toronto: Field Trip

Not just a music fest, Field Trip offers a ton of food, fashion, art/photography, and comedy. This year's acts include Alabama Shakes, Father John Misty, Arkells, Half Moon Run, BadBadNotGood and more.

Markham: TD Markham Jazz Festival

Another stellar and unsung summer must-see, the TD Markham Jazz Festival has a great lineup this year including Barbra Lica, Ranee Lee, and Shakura S'aida.

Oakville: Oakville Songs of Summer

While the TD Oakville Jazzfest is usually a must see, this year a brand new event is stealing the show: Oakville Songs of Summer. Headlined by The Trews, Oakville Songs of Summer is a one day extravaganza with music, art, crafts, food, and drink.
